A fusion of stone and alloy.
Two years after Hublot debuted mineral dials, the brand is now resurrecting rare natural gemstones from Earth (and from elsewhere in the galaxy) with the Classic Fusion Elements II.
Like the first edition, the Elements II is a limited edition for Singaporean retailer The Hour Glass and consists of five different models, each with a mineral dial: pink jasper, sodalite, nephrite, turquoise and lunar meteorite.
Based on Hublot's iconic chronograph, the Elements II watch features a minimalist design with the iconic porthole-style bezel and case. With just three hands, no date display, and a gold-dust printed Hublot logo, the dial is a blank slate, with the veins of each mineral visible.
Hublot does two things very well: minimalist, classic design, and collaborations with artists, most notably Daniel Arsham and early Takashi Murakami. The Elements II is essentially a classic Hublot watch, with a mineral stone dial that is unmarked except for the brand logo in gilded gold. The simple beauty of the dial is maximized, showing off the natural textures of the various mineral stones.
The case is unique in that it is made entirely of polished titanium and is two-toned due to the 18k gold trim, but it complements the color of the mineral stone dial perfectly.
This may seem surprising given the simple shape of the watch, but the stone dial would have been more striking in the full-size 45mm Classic Fusion, rather than the 42mm as it is now.
The larger case also provides more space for the mineral stone dial. At the same time, the proportions of the 45mm model are slightly more elegant - it feels thinner because the case thickness is similar, but the case is wider.

From Earth and the Universe Each of the stone dials – pink jasper, sodalite, nephrite, turquoise and lunar meteorite – varies in appearance (and price). From a distance, nephrite appears a nearly uniform forest green, but up close, fine veining becomes apparent.
On the other hand, turquoise and sodalite dials exhibit pronounced veining, giving them a unique look synonymous with the mineral.
The most expensive of the Elements II is the lunar meteorite dial. This is unusual because it is made from a different meteorite than most watch dials.
Most meteorite dials are made from iron meteorites, which are essentially alloys of iron and nickel that originate from asteroids. The large Gibeon meteorite, which fell in what is now Namibia, is most often used to make dials for the simple reason that it is plentiful.
Lunar meteorites, by contrast, are meteorites that originated from the moon. They are usually rocky, which explains the mineral-like appearance of the Element II’s meteorite dial, rather than the striated texture of more common iron meteorite dials.
Like its predecessors, the Elements II comes in a mid-sized Classic Fusion case, measuring 42mm wide and 10.4mm thick. The watch is compact and easy to wear, but it looks slightly smaller than it actually is, perhaps because Hublot watches are usually larger.
Unusually, the case is made almost entirely of polished titanium, which is rare for this model, which usually uses a combination of matte brushed and mirror polished finishes. Polished titanium is paired with 18K gold for the screws, crown, and under the bezel to create a two-tone effect.
The only polished part of the case is the caseback. Notably, the caseback is also secured with gold screws, reflecting the attention to detail in the design. Through the caseback, you can see the HUB1112 movement, a Sellita SW300-1 movement with a skeletonized rotor. A watch like this deserves a more sophisticated movement, and with the development of Hublot's own automatic movement, this goal will be achieved over time.
